Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson (mystery - young adult, 2018) my rating - 4,5/5 Truly Devious is the first book of The Truly Devious Trilogy. It is a young-adult mystery about a school, Ellingham Academy, where the students are all geniuses in different subjects. The first year the school opened, 1936, the founder's wife and daughter were kidnapped on the grounds of the school and a student was murdered. Now, many years later, Stevie Bell, a gifted teenager with a passion for crime-solving has a single goal. To solve the mystery of the Academy. It was the first time I read a young-adult mystery and I was impressed. It is a very nice and enjoyable book. The story is so well written and it combines mystery and teenagers perfectly. I devoured it in a day! It ended with a shocking plot twist so the moment I was done I immediately ordered the rest of the trilogy! However, except for the engaging story, the book refers to some society issues I found very interesting. Truly ...

Last week I posted a review for The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I actually intended to post my favourite quotes in the same article but then I realised they were too many so I decided to post them separately. Enjoy :)  It would be very nice to have a friend again. I would like that even more than a date. (Charlie) I look at people holding hands in the hallways, and I try to think about how it all works. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (Young-adult, 1999) my rating - 5/5 This book is a collection of letters written by Charlie, a high school freshman, to an unknown recipient. He writes to him about his feelings as he struggles with the traumatic experiences of his best friend's suicide and the death of his beloved aunt, Helen. During his first days of high school he meets two seniors, Sam and Patrick who instantly become his friends and who help him cope and survive school.  It was a book I literally read in a day. Easy and with a huge plot twist in the end it is definitely a page-turner. However, the main reason why I loved it is because it deals with extremely important issues people need to be aware of. To begin with, it handles mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Charlie, the main character, is trying to cope with the loss of his friend and his aunt.
