Hi!!! My name is Daphne and this is a little get-to-know each-other post!

Unibibliophile started as a bookstagram last December and since then it has been a big part of my daily life. My relationship with books started the moment I encountered the mystical library of my house, that became my getaway from reality. My very own shelter... So basically my books are my friends (though my real friends don't really like me saying that :P )

Except for my books my other passion is computer science. I am in a robotics team and I really really really love it. When I have free time -except for reading- I try to learn more programming languages and gain as much knowledge as I can on computers. Finally, I adore music. I play piano and I absolutely love classical music, jazz and rock, so I am one of those people who listen to music while reading.

This blog is my way to share my most beloved interest.

Les Misérables : A Brief Review + Quotes

Les Misérables  by Victor Hugo (Historical Fiction, 1862) my rating - 5/5 Les Misérables is a historical fiction book written by Victor Hugo. It is often considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. The novel is set in mid-19th century France. It follows the main character, Jean Valjean, who struggles to live a normal life after serving a prison sentence for stealing a loaf of bread during an economic depression. He scorns society, politicians and royals but most of all, he doesn't trust people. This story is incredible and shocking. Through Hugo's descriptions of society and people, it seems like our world is the same, even now, two centuries later. It is equally impressive as it is terrifying. It made me think about how unfair life can be and how a simple gesture can completely change a person. The author also deals with how important education is and how it can prevent from the majority of terrible things that happen every day in the world. ...

Books to read in quarantine - or when you need to escape reality

With all those things going on right now, I think everybody needs a way to escape reality. For me, books are the best way to relax and forget everything. So, I made a list with some books I believe are good for this period. 1. Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien J.R.R. Tolkien wrote this book for his children and now it is a timeless classic! It is definitely a must-read and this overwhelming period is the best one to get lost in the world of Hobbits. 2. Mythos by Stephen Fry Mythos is basically a collection of retellings of the Greek Myths. Stephen Fry's books are so entertaining and this one is no exception! There is no better time for an escape to Ancient Greece than this one.  3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (and the rest of the series) by J.K. Rowling I couldn't not include my favourite book ever. Harry Potter is the most magical, engaging, enchanting book I've ever read and the one that got me into reading. Even if you ha...
