My Favourite Harry Potter Quotes

A few days ago I was just sitting here starting to get bored so I figured I could search all 7 Harry Potter books and find my favourite quotes from each. So today I thought I'd share them with you.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

  • "Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say they were perfectly normal, thank you very much." / This is the phrase that started this story, therefore it is one of my absolute favourites.
  • "Harry - yer a wizard" - Hagrid / I just couldn't not include how Harry learnt that he is a wizard.
  • "The wand chooses the wizard" - Garrick Ollivander
  • " 'Ah, music' he said, wiping his eyes. 'A magic beyond all we do here!' " - Albus Dumbledore / I didn't actually remember reading that when I first read the book but I found it now and I loved it.
  • "I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to bed." - Hermione Granger / Hermione is the best - after Dumbledore :)
  • "There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them." - And this is the beginning of The Golden Trio
  • "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" - Albus Dumbledore / *applause*
  • "After all, to the well-organised mind, death is but the next greatest adventure." - Albus Dumbledore
  • "As much money and life as you want! The two things most human beings would choose above all - the trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things which are worst for them." - Albus Dumbledore
  • "Always use the proper name for things. Fear of the name increases fear of the thing itslef." - Albus Dumbledore

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

  • " I'll be in my room bedroom, making no noise and pretending I'm not there." - Harry Potter / mood
  • "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir, beware"
  • "Hearing voices no one else can hear isn't a good sign, even in the wizarding world" - Ron Weasley / :( 
  • "Fawkes is a phoenix, Harry. Phoenixes burst into flames when it is time for them to die and are reborn from the ashes." - Albus Dumbledore / I think that the phoenix is my favourite creature. 
  • "It is our choices, Harry, that show us what we are, far more than our abilities." - Albus Dumbledore / I NEED ALBUS DUMBLEDORE NOW
  • "Dobby is free" - Dobby / He is the CUTEST


Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- I found only two quotes but I think that when I'll reread it I'll find more-

  • "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" - Harry Potter / Like father, like son
  • "You think the dead we have loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble?" - Albus Dumbledore / Dumbledore is basically the reason I cry in every Harry Potter book.


Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

  • "I am what I am, an' I'm not ashamed. 'Never be ashamed', my ol' dad used ter say, 'there's some who'll hold it against you, but they're not worth botherin' with." - Rubeus Hagrid / This is the best thing Hagrid has ever said.
  • "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." - Sirius Black / YES
  • "Curiosity is not a sin. But we should exercise caution with our curiosity... yes, indeed." -  Albus Dumbledore
  • "You fail to recognize that it not matters what someone is born, but what they grow to be!" - Albus Dumbledore / I just love him



Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

  • "Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure." - Luna Lovegood
  • "Just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have." - Hermione Granger / Go girl!!
  • "I think we've outgrown full-time education... Time to test our talents in the real world, d'you reckon?" - Fred Weasley / THE TWINS <3 
  • "Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young." - Albus Dumbledore 
  • "Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike." - Albus Dumbledore
  • "I think I'll just go down and have some pudding and wait for it all to turn up... it always does in the end." - Luna Lovegood / I loved her for this quote



Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

  • "Dumbledore says people find it easier to forgive others for being wrong than for being right" -Hermione Granger
  • "Once again, you show all the sensitivity of a blunt axe." - Nearly Headless Nick / Definitely my favourite ghost.
  • "Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth." - Albus Dumbledore 
  • "It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more." - Albus Dumbledore / *tearing up* 


Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

  • " 'No, Harry,  you listen,' said Hermione. 'We're coming with you. That was decided months ago - years, really.' " - THE GOLDEN TRIO
  • "Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving." - Kingsley Shacklebolt / Respect
  • "And Percy was shaking his brother, and Ron was kneeling beside them, and Fred's eyes stared without seeing, the ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face." / And I'm crying too hard.
  • " 'After all this time?' 'Always,' said Snape" -/ Again, I'm crying
  • "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" - Albus Dumbledore
  • "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU B**CH" - Molly Weasley / Such a powerful scene
  • "Albus Severus, you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew" - Harry Potter / Okay, maybe I cry a lot but I really can't help it right now.
  • "All was well" / And this is how it ended

Les Misérables  by Victor Hugo (Historical Fiction, 1862) my rating - 5/5 Les Misérables is a historical fiction book written by Victor Hugo. It is often considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. The novel is set in mid-19th century France. It follows the main character, Jean Valjean, who struggles to live a normal life after serving a prison sentence for stealing a loaf of bread during an economic depression. He scorns society, politicians and royals but most of all, he doesn't trust people. This story is incredible and shocking. Through Hugo's descriptions of society and people, it seems like our world is the same, even now, two centuries later. It is equally impressive as it is terrifying. It made me think about how unfair life can be and how a simple gesture can completely change a person. The author also deals with how important education is and how it can prevent from the majority of terrible things that happen every day in the world. ...

Books to read in quarantine - or when you need to escape reality

With all those things going on right now, I think everybody needs a way to escape reality. For me, books are the best way to relax and forget everything. So, I made a list with some books I believe are good for this period. 1. Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien J.R.R. Tolkien wrote this book for his children and now it is a timeless classic! It is definitely a must-read and this overwhelming period is the best one to get lost in the world of Hobbits. 2. Mythos by Stephen Fry Mythos is basically a collection of retellings of the Greek Myths. Stephen Fry's books are so entertaining and this one is no exception! There is no better time for an escape to Ancient Greece than this one.  3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (and the rest of the series) by J.K.
